Rend the heavens, O Lord!
  By Donald Ngonge

And come down now!
Visit us afresh, O Lord!
Rend the heavens and pour Your Spirit of fire,
O God of Elijah,
For this fire we pray,
So that the church might quake at Thy presence,
To quake because of Thy awesome holy presence.

Pour down Your Spirit, O Lord!
And bend the church!
May the Spirit of fire burn the dross,
As when fire kindles brushwood!
Arise, O Lord, and stir us to holiness,
As when fire causes water to boil!
Yea, may Your Spirit move in the church,
To re-awaken dead consciences to repentance, restoration and consecration!
Yea, Lord, as fire causes water to boil,
bring us back to holiness and truth!

Rend the heavens, O Lord!
And descend now; now in this last hour!
In this last hour of the last day!
Pour the promised Spirit of power,
And make Thy name known to Thy adversaries!
Bend the church, O Lord!
Visit us now, visit us today!
Oh for a conscious awareness of God in the church!
Oh for a deeper revelation of Your awesome holiness!

Yes, Lord, descend now!
And cause Thy people to tremble at Thy presence!
If there is one need now, O Lord,
It is that You may rend the heavens, and come down now,
That the nations might tremble at Thy presence,
At the presence of the Holy One of Israel,
As when fire causes water to boil!
Revive Thy work, O Lord,
And turn away the captivity of the nations!

Rend the heavens, O Lord!
Rend hearts, even my own heart, rend!
Oh for the heavens to be rent!
And show forth Thy terrible works to the nations,
That they may tremble at Thy presence!
Come down now, O Lord,
And melt stony hearts,
As the mountains melt as wax before You!
Bring us back to the apostolic days of old,
For that indeed is heaven on earth!

Rend some waiting hearts,
And rend the heavens,
That we may hear,
And perceive Thee by the ear,
And glorify Thy name,
As the God of gods!
Yea, in all, O Lord,
Glorify Thy name!
Come, Lord Jesus! Amen.

Bend me, O Lord!
Bend my stiff back!
Rend my heart, O Lord,
Rend this callous heart of mine!
Melt my stony heart, O Lord,
As the mountains melt as wax before Thee!
Oh, that I may know the baptism of fire
To burn every dross in me,
As when fire kindles brushwood!

Bend me, O Lord!
And rend my heart!
Oh, for a heart acquainted with continuous brokenness and contrition!
Oh, for a heart acquainted with tears,
Increasing tears, unceasing tears over my own sins!
Give me tears for revival, O Lord!
Give me passion for souls!
Give me burden for Your visitation!

Oh, for a heart acquainted with great sorrow, unceasing sorrow over my own sins!
Oh, for a heart acquainted with unceasing anguish over my own sins!
Oh, for a heart that knows perpetual confession and forsaking of sins!
Oh, for a heart that knows increasing tears, unceasing tears as an intercessor!
Oh, for a heart that knows great sorrow, unceasing sorrow as an intercessor!
Oh, for a heart that knows unceasing anguish as an intercessor,
For the billions of souls on Earth!

Bend me, O Lord!
Rend my heart, I pray Thee!
Oh, for a heart that knows the Lordship of the Spirit of intercession!
Oh, for a heart to bear Godís burdens with the Spirit of intercession!
Oh, for a heart that really prays and prays with words known and unknown!
Oh, for a heart that groans with the Spirit of intercession!
Oh, for a heart that sighs, deeply sighs to discharge Godís burdens!
Oh, for a heart that knows great sorrow, unceasing sorrow for souls!
Bend me, O Lord, and give me such a heart!
Rend my heart to meet this need!

Am I an intercessor?
I am greatly limited and inadequate!
Oh, that I could become an intercessor indeed!
Oh, that I could intercede indeed!
Bend me, O Lord,
To become an intercessor as those of old!
You did this bending work in them; do it in me, Lord!
Bend us, O Lord! and give us intercessors!
Bend us and save the world!
O Lord, rend the heavens and come down now!
Come, Lord Jesus! Amen.
