Sharing God’s Love For The Children Of The World
When little children were brought to Jesus to put His hands on them and pray, He lovingly welcomed them and said, "Let the little children come to Me…for of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matt. 19:14). At another time He pronounced a frightful woe on those who would cause the little ones "who believe in Me" to sin. And Jesus further revealed the deep love of God for children when He told His disciples, "Take heed that you despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven…. It is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish" (Matt. 18:6, 10, 14), and He died for them that they need not perish.
Child Evangelism Team in Nigeria
Brother A. O. and Mrs. Sanu in Nigeria are ones upon whose hearts God has placed a special burden and ability to gather little children, as lambs from the midst of wolves, to the safety of the fold of the Good Shepherd. In 1980 the Sanus established "Child Evangelism Team" as a ministry among children. Today they see fruit of their labors as some of the early converts are now grown and serving the Lord. For some years it has been our privilege to have Brother Sanu serve as representative of Herald of His Coming in his homeland of Nigeria. He serves also as editor of the Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa editions of the Herald, three prominent languages of Nigeria. These papers are printed as time and funds allow, and it was a great blessing to receive a new edition each of the Yoruba and the Hausa Heralds recently. Along with a copy of these editions, Brother Sanu shared a Thanksgiving and Prayer Bulletin of the Child Evangelism Team. From this bulletin we share the following prayer items, which we entreat you to take to heart:
Pray for the teacher training courses, held by the Sanus two Saturdays a month for nine months. Pray the students will learn well and persevere to the end of the lessons, and that after graduating, they will hold Saturday Home Bible Classes in their neighborhoods, including children who never go to church because their parents are not Christians. Ask that many children will be saved, and will attend church and grow to maturity in Christ.
Pray for funds to make further improvements at the children’s camp. At the last camp the children who have received Christ were encouraged to witness to their friends, based on Matthew 28:18-20.
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem in Israel but also for the peace of Nigeria (Psa. 122:6). There have been many bomb blasts in the northern states and the loss of many lives and disruption of families. Intercede that the terrorist group most responsible for this, Boko Haram, will be dealt with successfully by the government to halt the atrocities. Pray God will change the hearts of the radicals who are agents of the evil one to kill and to destroy.
Pray for Children Worldwide!
Pray against infanticide of girl babies and discrimination against girl children, whose schooling is shortened and who are married off to older men, or who are forced into child labor or prostitution. Pray about orphans released from orphanages at age 16 who end up on the streets in gangs or in prostitution. Many acquire AIDS and die young. Ask God to move in churches that can become involved in rescuing street children.
Pray Christian children will resist negative peer pressure at school and take their stand, and know how to respond to discrimination because of the customs and dress of the majority religion of the country. Intercede for Christian parents to cover children with the blood of Jesus as they go to school, as a safeguard against evil spirits operating through other children. Seek God on behalf of children who despise their parents’ instructions, that resentment will give way to understanding that parents want the best for them. Since families are the building blocks of the nation, pray families will stay intact with each member performing as he/she should and all fearing God.
Pray for children who live in constant fear because of bomb attacks and killings in their area, that they will be helped to put their trust in God. Pray for children who live in boarding schools because their parents are missionaries in remote areas where there is lack of school facilities. Ask God to comfort them in loneliness and be their support in time of need. Include in prayer children in lands where persecution of parents for their faith in Christ is rife, as children often suffer as well and may be left uncared for, or may be jailed with a family, as in North Korea.
Ask God for health for children and for healing for children ill with diseases that are preventable, that governments will take a greater part in helping in this regard and help also with the high mortality rate of infants. Ask God to mercifully heal innocent children born with AIDS because the parents were infected, and to provide Christian foster homes for many African children orphaned by AIDS. Pray against famine that results in many children being undernourished and even dying of hunger. Ask God to send plentiful rains to grow adequate food.
Intercede for God to stop children being trafficked across borders, and being used as home servants or forced into prostitution or long hours of strenuous or tedious labor. Pray for those who have been forced to serve as soldiers. Ask God to involve more Christians in rehabilitating these children so they can return to school and to family life.
Thank the God of Mercy and Grace!
Thank the Lord for Child Evangelism Fellowship founded in USA and for Bread For Children, ministries that have produced helpful materials for evangelizing the world’s children. Praise God for the family page of Herald of His Coming and for making it a blessing to parents, pastors, etc. Pray that the helps given will be put into use and will help build strong marriages and healthy, God-fearing homes where He is honored, loved and obeyed. Pray for widespread restoration of the uniting family altar in this age when Satan is endeavoring to break families apart.
Thank the Lord that in the plan of God children are the heritage of the Lord, a gift of God, the blessing of the Lord, joy and gladness, arrows in the hand of the mighty man, beloved of the Lord. Pray that children will be seen and treated as such, and that the sinister plans of the enemy to spoil God’s good plan will be thwarted. Provision for victory was made through Calvary and the Resurrection. Thank the Lord that children for the most part are dependent, loving, forgiving, trusting of parents, pliable, and believe what they are told. This does not make them Christians. However, they easily believe the Gospel and receive Christ. Pray and work to win children to the Christ who loves them!
