Ministry Update from the publisher:
By Rich Carmicheal
"...Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know your labor in the Lord is not in vain" (1 Cor. 15:58).
Dear friends, this fall marks the beginning of the 63rd year of ministry for Herald of His Coming. We praise the Lord for all that He has done and all that He continues to do in people’s lives through the Herald paper and other Herald materials. I wish you could visit the Herald office and read through the many letters from readers testifying to the way the Lord is working through the Herald to impact their lives. Here are just a few excerpts from recent letters:
"In the rural area where I pastor, we hardly get any Christian magazines. Herald of His Coming is our only hope and survival in these last days." (Zambia)
"Our spiritual life is continually nourished by the Herald. In this part of Africa it is not that simple to get the type of literature which you send to us." (Uganda)
"I thank God for this ministry that taught me how to live a holy life and how to pray..." (South Africa)
"...every time I read this anointed material, it gives me strength. Desires for revival are aroused in my heart and for the mighty move of the Holy Spirit in our congregation..." (Ethiopia)
"The messages in the papers have been of great use and help to me in the preaching and teaching ministry." (Tanzania)
"I can’t thank you enough for the great things God is doing in my life, home and ministry through the ministry of Herald of His Coming." (Togo)
"...you keep sending Herald of His Coming freely. I bless you for that…I can’t keep the Herald even though I want to hold on to every issue to re-read them. I end up giving them away…When I get it I must share it..." (U.S.A.)
What a tremendous calling and privilege the Lord has entrusted to the Herald ministry! Currently, about 70,000 copies of the English edition of Herald of His Coming are sent forth each month without charge to readers throughout the world. Many books, newsletters and some Bibles are also being sent. In addition, over twenty other language editions are being printed and distributed (with varying frequency) through the outreach of Herald International.
For many readers, Herald of His Coming is their main source, if not only source, of Christian literature (some do not even have a Bible). As you can imagine, the Herald is very important to them in their walk with the Lord. Many of these readers are able to receive Herald papers only because of the prayer support and financial support of other believers.
Such support has been and continues to be the key to the outreach of this ministry. In 1941 the ministry was birthed out of prayer meetings and began printing when a friend of Brother and Sister Moore (co-founders of Herald of His Coming) gave a $50 gift for printing. Since that time, many friends have come alongside this ministry with their prayer support and financial support. The Lord has seen this love and sacrifice, and in response has blessed a countless number of souls through Herald of His Coming.
As you can imagine, during these past 62 years of ministry, many faithful friends, workers and readers have gone on to be with the Lord. We praise the Lord for all that He accomplished through these dear saints. We also praise Him that He has raised up new friends to sustain the outreach of the Herald ministry. This calls to mind the words of Psalm 145:4, "One generation will commend your works to another…"
Your Support Makes a Difference!
This also leads me to share with you the importance of your partnership. The outreach of the Herald ministry today and in the days to come is very dependent on the love and sacrifice of friends such as you. This is your hour and my hour to make our lives count for the work the Lord desires to do through the Herald. This is our hour "to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased" (Heb. 13:16). O Lord, come, fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit and work through us to bless others!
The need for the Herald ministry seems to be as great as ever. The increase of problems in the world and the lukewarm condition in much of the Church reinforce the importance of the Herald’s emphasis on repentance, revival, prayer, holiness and world evangelization. Readers in various places are being strengthened, encouraged and challenged in their walk with the Lord and their outreach to others. New Herald International editions are underway, and there are requests for additional ones. As Christ’s return draws nearer, the need to help reach the lost and awaken the Church grows more significant. Praise the Lord for all He is doing and for all that He wants to do in the future through Herald of His Coming!
We realize, however, that the future outreach of this ministry cannot be taken for granted. Many ministries are struggling as support has fallen off or not kept pace with increases in expenses. Therefore, we appreciate all the more any prayer and financial support you may currently be providing. If you are not presently praying for the Herald ministry, we hope you will begin doing so, even if for just a few minutes each day. Also, if you are not providing financial support, and have the means to help, we invite you to share that others might receive.
Please do not underestimate your significance to this ministry, even if you are able to offer only a small amount of prayer or financial support. As someone has pointed out, it takes many drops of water to make an ocean, and many grains of sand to make a beach. While the larger gifts this ministry receives are very important, smaller gifts given on a regular basis are also very important. For example, monthly gifts of $5 or $10 add up to a substantial amount when many readers make such a commitment. If you are not currently providing financial support, would you consider beginning with such an amount, trusting the Lord to bless you and others through your generosity? Your financial support and your prayers will make a difference! "From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work" (Eph. 4:16).
We praise the Lord that over the course of the last year, donations from Herald friends have kept pace with the expenses associated with printing and mailing Herald materials. However, donations in August (the time of this writing) have been very low. Please join us in prayer that donations this fall and winter will be sufficient for the outreach of the ministry. If you would like a daily prayer guide containing prayer suggestions for the Herald, we will gladly send one to you. "...Pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you" (2 Thess. 3:1).
Praise the Lord for a Growing Core of Volunteers
In an effort to keep costs as low as possible, this ministry hopes to rely more on the help of volunteers to help with Herald mailings. To that end, we praise the Lord that the number of volunteers continues to grow as does their heart for the work. Their work not only helps reduce expenses, but also provides good fellowship, encouragement and relief to the staff. The Lord is good!
We Hope to Hear from You
