Promises For The Penitent
By Gary Bowell, from Stones With Fair Colors

"For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners" (Isaiah 57:17-18).

In the beautiful words of Hosea: "I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early" (5:15). And other words in Hosea: "I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him" (14:4).

Today God is showing great mercy. Many who have gone on "frowardly" in the way of their hearts, God has forgiven when they repented. Then He has led them, and restored comforts unto their souls as He promised. What promises to the penitent we can find in the Bible!
